Naples is in Collier County, not Lee County, and the rules differ. Inside the City of Naples, work on trees covered by the city’s tree protection ordinance needs a Tree Alteration Permit. In unincorporated Collier County (including North Naples, East Naples and Golden Gate Estates), existing single-family home sites are generally exempt from the county’s cultivated-tree removal permit as long as the required number of trees stays on the lot. Clearing native vegetation, or more than an acre, can need a vegetation removal permit. The provider should confirm what applies before work starts.
